Where can I download software or firmware for my WD drive? You can go to our Software Download page and look for the software or firmware there.

Now that Western Digital and SanDisk are separate companies, what products does each company support, are their support accounts linked, and will my existing Western Digital Support account also work for SanDisk Support? Product Coverage
Western Digital Support handles Hard Disk Drives (Desktop, Portable & Internal) and Platform products (Data Center & Servers). SanDisk Support covers flash-based products like Solid-State Drives (SSDs) and flash memory. Accessing SanDisk Support
If you registered a flash product before September 25, 2024, a SanDisk Support account was created using your Western Digital Support email. The same password applies but can be reset anytime.
If you registered a product but did not complete the setup of your account, click ‘Forgot Password’ on the Support sign in screen, and enter the email address associated with your registered product. Account Linking
Accounts are separate and tied to different companies. Changes to one account (profile info, updates) will not sync with the other. Account Information
Western Digital Support shows your HDD and platform product registrations and support cases.
SanDisk Support shows your flash product registrations and support cases. How do I submit a warranty claim for my product? All warranty claims must be submitted through your Western Digital Support account. Please have your product’s serial number ready.

If you have a support account, log into your Support Account. If your product is already registered, click Warranty Replacement> Get Started and then select the product.   If your product is not registered, click Warranty Replacement > Get Started, then choose Register a New Product before proceeding.  If you don’t have a support account, create a support account here.
How do I check the status of a warranty replacement request? You will need to log in to your support account and have your warranty replacement number ready.
Option 1

On WesternDigital.com, click Support > Warranty Service > Warranty Replacement Status > Enter your warranty replacement number to view the status. Alternatively, from the Support Home Page, scroll down to the “Warranty Service” tile and follow the same steps.
Option 2

On product support account overview page, click “warranty replacement” from the side panel, then select “Check Status”. How do I check the warranty on my Western Digital product? It is not required to have an account or log in to check your warranty status.  

On westerndigital.com, click “Support” > “Warranty Services” > “Warranty Status”. Alternatively, from the Support Home Page, scroll down to the “Warranty Service” tile and follow the same steps.    If you’re unsure where to find the Serial Number, refer to the label on the product or check your device settings, depending on the product type.  Why isn't my external hard drive showing up on my computer? How do I register my Western Digital product? If you're a new customer (no support account yet) 

Use the registration link in your shipping confirmation email or order details page. After registering, you’ll receive an email to set up your support account.  Alternatively, visit our Support Website and select “Product Registration”.  You can also use our Chatbot on the website for step-by-step guidance. 
If you already have a support account 

Log in to your account.  Go to “Registered Products” > “Register a New Product” or scroll down and click “Register a New Product” from the relevant section.  What should I do if my data is lost or the drive is corrupted? If you have a backup from the data, reformat the drive and restore data from the back up.
